The design allows it to be worn over or under a jacket and the range of colours available means you can choose one to blend in with your particular uniform for maximum subtlety.
Brace clips at either end lock on to the kilt/clothing waistband at the front and rear of the hip. These clips should not be locked on to leather belts as this could damage them.
After striking the pipes at the intro there is no need to lift the bag to the playing position. The player simply pivots the bag under the arm.
The harness was specifically designed with pipe band competition in mind. The fact that pipes are carried to the starting line in the down position is one of the reasons behind the quick release buckle. At pipes up/down, clicking the pipes to and from the harness will become second nature.
The harness has a quick release buckle which allows a small section to be easily detached. This detachable section has a rubber ring which acts as the support for the pipes.
The large bass drone on the bagpipes has to be removed from its stock and the rubber ring pushed down the stock to approximately 25mm from the pipe bag.
A separate part known as the the "Clamp Ring" is positioned above the rubber ring. This clamp ring grips on the stock and stops the rubber ring sliding up.
These two parts can remain in place on the bagpipes forever more, when the harness is worn it is simply a case of clicking the pipes to and from it by means of the quick release buckle.
